Sofia Carson
“Applause”
Applause
“Applause”, from the feature film Tell It Like a Woman, beautifully penned by Grammy, Emmy, and Honorary Oscar award-winning songwriter Diane Warren and passionately performed by globally beloved singer, songwriter, actress, and activist Sofia Carson is a global anthem of female empowerment.
“I am honored to be the voice of ‘Applause,’” says Carson. “An anthem dedicated to the women of the world. A deeply timely reminder to applaud ourselves for how far we’ve come, and to applaud ourselves for how far we will go. Because we fight like women, we survive like women, and we do it together. On behalf of all women, thank you, Diane, for giving us Applause.”
“I’m so honored to have written the song, ‘Applause’ for the powerful film Tell It Like a Woman. To be part of a film that promotes women in front of and behind the camera has been a very rewarding experience,” said Warren. “Sofia Carson’s beautiful and dynamic voice embodies the emotion and strength of both the song and its message.”
The movie is released by Samuel Goldwyn Films and produced by Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment in association with We Do It Together,a nonprofit film production company whose mission is to tell stories about women, by women, for everyone.
Tell It Like a Women is a feature film comprised of seven short stories whose common denominator is the representation of female protagonists. Each of these very different women face a particular challenge in their lives with extreme determination and courage that makes them stronger and more self-aware. Some of these inspirational and empowering stories, which take place all over the world, are inspired by true events while others are narrative fiction.
Sofia and Diane first performed the song together at the world premiere of the movie at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy in July 2022 and then performed for the UN General Assembly to raise awareness for Women’s Rights.
