A Note from
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” – Dr. Suess
Next week your doorbell will ring and you’ll be faced with Trick or Treaters with their little pumpkin bags held out for candy. I’m sure you’ll be faced with the usual Super Heroes, Disney Princesses, ghosts, goblins, and zombies. But there will be that one kid dressed as something completely different. That one kid that just stands out in the crowd. Please give that kid an extra handful of candy.
That’s kid was usually me. Sure, you’ve all seen the picture of me as a cowboy on Halloween. Maybe it was a premonition that I’d someday perform in Nashville, but I’m pretty sure everyone else that year was a robot or a Martian. It’s not that I didn’t fit in…. I just didn’t care. After school my friends ran home to watch TV and I was playing the piano. When all the guys were outside playing football or baseball, what was I doing? Writing songs. It’s funny because now when I go back for my high school reunions the kids all say, “I never knew you played piano!”

So when that kid shows up at your door in a totally out of the ordinary costume please think of me and give out an extra handful of candy. You never know who they will grow up to be!
Jim,
You’re still the best cowboy we know ! …..I’m glad you loved the piano and writing music enough to continue entertaining the world with your wonderful music. We look forward to seeing you in December in Louisville !
Our love and blessings to a wonderful man!!!!

good message , thanks for sharing about being the kid who was always different. when i was a child, u couldn’t tear me away from the piano 🙂
Way to go cowboy! The investment of your time taught you to craft songs that touch the world with inspiration. Your holiday concert will make the season for me in Fort Worth. God bless you.
Thank you for sharing this sweet suggestion with us. I love handing out candy to all the assorted little ones although some are not quite so little in my subdivision. I will think of you when I see the one dressed uniquely and give that extra bag.?
Jim it looks like you march to the beat of a different drummer just like I do. Stay true to yourself and God bless you for writing all those songs and sharing your music with us. you certainly have changed my life.
