Lynne Poulton’s Top 6 Apps for Productivity in 2018
Listen to Jim’s interview with pal and organizational guru Lynne Poulton above!
The holiday tour has come to a close and the new year has arrived… you can probably imagine the disarray in Brickman Studios! Thankfully we had our good friend (and savior) Lynne Poulton of Wholly Organized come into the studio last week to help us get organized and even share some wisdom on her top productivity apps for those looking to maximize in the new year.
1. 30/30
In a few sentences: You set up a list of tasks, and a length of time for each of them. When you start the timer, it will tell you when to move on to the next task. That’s it! The task list is controlled entirely with gestures; a simple and natural way to use the app.
2. TIme Timer
In a few sentences: Time TIMER® for iPhone is the original timer designed to “show” the passage of time through the use of its signature red disk that disappears as time elapses. Unlike traditional timers that fail to make the abstract concept of time concrete, its innovative and visual depiction of “time remaining” is ideal for anyone who wants to measure and manage time more effectively at work, school and home.
3. Zenday
In a few sentences: ZenDay allows you to schedule you tasks and meetings in one place because we think to-dos do take time! So we created the Floating Tasks: ZenDay inserts them dynamically in your available time. Quickly enter new tasks, prioritize them, and ZenDay will rearrange your schedule to reflect your short term priorities. Get back in control of your time!
4. Toodledo
In a few sentences: Toodledo is a set of incredibly powerful tools to increase your productivity and organize your life. More than just a to-do list, Toodledo provides you with a place to write long notes, make custom lists, create structured outlines and track your habits. You can collaborate with friends, family or your co-workers, and we’ll safely store and sync all your data to your devices.
5. Wunderlist – Discontinued
In a few sentences: Managing tasks is generally not a fun way to spend your time. We created Remember The Milk so that you no longer have to write your to-do lists on sticky notes, whiteboards, random scraps of paper, or the back of your hand.
More on Lynne Poulton
Lynne founded Wholly Organized!® LLC (WO) with the desire to merge her passion for empowering and helping others with her enthusiasm for creating organized spaces. Jason joined WO with the ambition to make a positive impact on the quality of life of WO clients by addressing pragmatic concerns. Jason treats every home as if it was his own home, ensuring a job’s done properly. Together Lynne & Jason’s overriding philosophy is to treat every client the way they would want their parent’s treated, with respect and dignity.
Lynne began providing organizing services part-time in 2006 as “Organized Spaces by Lynne.” In 2008, she married Jason, became a step-mom, sold two houses, moved, and began commuting from Akron to Cleveland. After being a Job Readiness/Soft Skills Training Services Manager for a non-profit for 14 years, Lynne launched WO. Jason joined WO in 2017 after 23 years of corporate life. He holds a BS and Ph.D in chemistry. Lynne and Jason realized that their skill sets were very complimentary. Lynne’s social work and organizing training allow her to address the client’s emotional needs. Jason’s training as a scientist, his corporate experience in recognizing potential safety hazards, and his enjoyment of “do it yourself” projects allow him to address many of the client’s practical/physical needs.
So, why get organized? While clutter control is a large part of what we do, WO goes beyond surface level organization. We work together to set up personalized systems and strategies that match your preferences and goals. We view you as a whole person throughout the process of helping you reach your personal goals.
Walking into a cluttered room can be overwhelming. It can have a negative impact on every aspect of life, including relationships, nutrition, mental well-being, family and goals. The hardest part is getting started – that’s where we come in! We help you define what success looks like for you, how to get there, and how you can keep up the work on your own.
We also work with you to make getting organized a positive experience. The relief might lead you to say my space is: “Wholly Organized!”
